LOCATION Kelowna City Park
Among the City of Kelowna’s many infrastructural improvements to public and community spaces is the revitalization of City Park. Heavy usage and programming have caused the park to deteriorate, and major reconstruction and re-conceptualization were required.
MAKE Studio and DS Studio proposed the City Park Children’s Playground as an innovative way to celebrate the city’s growth and increased density. A series of all-inclusive play spaces are used to rethink connectivity across the park and foster community.
The design sought to re-define spaces of play with series of abstract wooden forms to be interpreted and inhabited by all people of all ages.
