COMPLETION 2017

LOCATION 11 Charlotte Avenue, Toronto

Located in the bustling downtown district at King and Spadina, Khao San Road is the new punk in the hood. Just upstairs is a intimate snack bar Bang Sue. Tucked amongst a forest of towers, MAKE designed this restaurant and bar duo to bring the street inside and create a unique dining experience.

MAKE wanted this space to feel connected, yet totally isolated for intimacy. MAKE covered the street view with large wood louvers facing the South and added a high bar-height ledge to separate the space from the ground level activity, while also providing functional bar space for patrons having a drink.

Bang Sue owes its laid back street vibe to its main bar, which was designed to emulate the feeling of eclectic and diverse food shacks. Wood furniture creates warmth in the space, while the colorful bar stools add some playfulness to the overall neural aesthetic of the space.
